Set up alerts that fit your day
Your sports, your threshold, your quiet hours. A practical guide to making Deviate useful without making your phone busier.
The purpose of an alert is to bring a relevant comparison to you. Getting more notifications is not the objective. Deviate gives you controls for what reaches your phone, so you can choose the sports and situations you actually want to follow.
Start with the sports you follow
Open Settings and select the sports that interest you. The app groups them by season to make the list easier to scan, but a grouping does not stop you from selecting a sport.
Before expecting alerts for every selection, check the coverage details. Some sports currently show markets in Live without a live win-probability model. Different leagues can also use different model types.
Choose a minimum edge
The minimum-edge setting controls how large the model-to-market gap must be before Deviate notifies you. A lower threshold can allow more qualifying comparisons through. A higher threshold asks for a larger disagreement.
This setting is a notification preference, not a safety rating or a guarantee of better outcomes. A larger model disagreement does not automatically mean the model is right. Alerts still need the underlying game state, model coverage, and other quality rules to qualify.
Give your notifications a daily limit
A busy sports schedule does not need to turn into a busy phone. Subscribers can set a maximum number of alerts per day in Settings. Non-subscribers receive only redacted teaser notifications, capped at five per day, rather than full alert details.
A daily cap controls interruptions. It does not mean the app only tracks that many games, and it is not a target you need to fill.
Set quiet hours
Choose a start and end time when you do not want notifications. Quiet hours can cross midnight. The system still records qualifying alerts during that window; quiet hours suppress delivery rather than holding notifications for a later batch.
You can also choose your notification channels. If push alerts are not reaching you, confirm that notifications are allowed for Deviate in your iPhone settings as well as inside the app.
Read the comparison when you open an alert
A full alert shows the model probability, market number, gap, matchup, and the reason it fired. Check the timestamp too: the alert describes a particular moment, and the price can change afterward.
The History tab offers a free preview of resolved alerts, with the full log available to subscribers. Use it to understand how alerts are recorded, rather than treating one selected result as typical. For account, subscription, or notification help, contact the Deviate team.
